About
Port and Sherry: Christmas staples, but these are drinks for all occasions – Sherry: Aperitif, digestive or pudding wines. Sherry is now a truly multigenerational drink, over ice at a party, or offer a glass to the local vicar or bank manager. Perhaps be cautious when offered a glass by an aging relative though! Light Fino, aged Palo Cortado, or a rich PX, the choice is yours. Port: Times have moved on from Port and Lemon in an east end pub, or a glass in a smoke filled room accompanied by a Cuban cigar. It is commonly served after meals as a dessert wine in English-speaking countries, often with cheese, nuts, or chocolate; white and tawny ports are often served as an apéritif. In continental Europe, all types of ports are frequently consumed as apéritifs.
